In support of Reef-Sunset Unified School District’s vision, mission, and values, it is the goal of the Human Resource Department to recruit, select, and maintain highly qualified professional staff for all school sites and departments. In addition, we strive to provide exemplary human resource services to all RSUSD employees and the community. Our department will ensure that our efforts are focused on the best interests of our students, community, staff, and district.
District
Reef-Sunset Unified School District currently services two communities, Avenal and Kettleman City, 17 miles apart. Within the district, there are nine schools, which include: Kettleman City Elementary (K-8), Avenal Elementary (K-5), Tamarack Elementary (k-5), Reef Sunset Middle School (6-8), Sunrise High School (9-12), Adelante High School (9-12), Secondary Community Day School (6-12), Avenal Adult School, and Avenal High School (9-12).
Community
Avenal and Kettleman City are centrally located in the foothills of the western San Joaquin Valley. The two communities are rural farming communities with a large Hispanic population. The two towns are within two hours of driving time west to the Pacific Ocean coastline or east to the Sierra Nevada Mountains. We are also considered the halfway point between Los Angeles and San Francisco off Interstate 5.
